A hanging aquarium that is mounted on your wall is unique. Not many people have these great fish tanks, mostly because they aren’t widely advertised. Wall mounted aquariums are easy to setup, come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are great for smaller species of fish.
The one drawback of these fish tanks is that they are typically thinner which means it is harder to keep larger species of fish in them. This is more than made up for by the their “wow factor”. Some species of fish that will do very well in this type of aquarium setup are neon tetras, guppies, platties, mollies, bristlenose plecos, and just about any other fish that is smaller than 2 or 3 inches long.
There are many wall mounted aquariums that are advertised as being great for bettas. Many of these actually hold very little water and it would be unfair to keep a betta in them. However, as long as the wall mounted fish tank holds a gallon or more, a Siamese fighting fish would be fine.
These aquariums are pretty simple to maintain. They can be removed from the wall when water changes are due. The top end models even hide all the cords needed for lights, filter, and pumps. It is very possible to have a great looking fish tank setup that is actually a wall mounted aquarium.
